The last of us, spiderman, all the resident evil games, and many more, all recognize the eGPU, and even utilize it according to gamescope. But utilization is extremely low, in both game mode and desktop. To the point where I might as well use the integrated graphics. No compatibility layer, launch option, or script seems to do anything. It's weird because arc raiders and the outer worlds seem to utilize the egpu. No other games even attempt to spin the fans up, and I'm at a loss.
The JHL7440 doesnt utilize the full 40gbps usb4 is capable of, due to overhead left for peripherals and such, leaving about 25-32gbps of usable bandwidth for a GPU. I've checked boltctl in konsole, and it states my bandwidth is limited to 20gpbs. 2 lanes @ 10gbps, when it should be 2 lanes @ 20gbps, allowing the full 40. Not that a thunderbolt 3 controller is even capable of utilizing all of it, but it potentially limits performance on an already limited set up.
Also the internal screen stays on when connected to an egpu in game mode, with the boot logo stuck there, risking screen burn in. In desktop mode you can obviously disable the internal screen, but this bug didnt exist in version 3.8.
Steps for reproducing this issue:
- Try to use an egpu on 3.9
