Feature Ask: Temporary Home Boards / Navigation to Home by Grid

Would it be possible to have a "navigate to home after button press" setting per grid, not just per user? Like "show global grid"
It already default-does not for keyboards and youtube (havent found others?) which is very smart. But it would be good to be able to tell it to e.g. stay in a smaller core grid, or in a social grid sub-set, without turning it off everywhere.
(Right now I do that, and it's okay, but there is a reason most apps default-enable that, the motor planning and it eliminating extra button presses.
I guess you could custom-add navigation to different home grids or delete that, but so much navigation can get laggy and also very much extra work to add!)

Expanded from that - even more useful would be being able to set temporary home boards - so like, what grid a page navigates back to (or itself / none). So you could have a subset with a smaller core board, or a social home board within the normal board that social pages go back to. The home button would still go back to the global grid to get out of that subset, but else you'd stay there. This is how Coughdrop does it, and where I got the idea from

There is already an issue for multiple global grids: #557 - it's not to difficult to implement, but probably some discussion needed how to make the UI for it - but discuss it in #557.

regarding "navigate to home after button press": yes, good idea 👍 Probably it would need 3 options:

• default: does what is set in the global setting
• navigate to home grid
• don't navigate to home grid

Home grid is the thing currently set at the bottom of the manage grids page - which page the grid will default to after a button press (when enabled) or when pressing the home button. Right?

And I was asking about an option to set different home grids for different grids - e.g. if I was making a small core board of 3 or 4 pages with bigger buttons within my normal grid set, that those pages would navigate back to the small core board, not the normal one, after a button press. And you'd get back out of that grid subset by pressing the home button when on the temporary home board, or pressing it twice, or something.
(or, for a keyboard, if you made a "shift" page you'd want it to go back to the lowercase buttons after a button press, the lowercase page to not navigate, and the capslock page to not navigate either - that's probably a simpler example.)

Ok, sorry, then I didn't understand correctly or didn't read carefully enough.

So what you basically want is an option like "navigate to a custom grid after selecting an element" and this setting can be set individually per grid, right? And it overrides the global "navigate to home grid after selecting an element", if set.

And the other options you see in the linked CoughDrop video, although in CoughDrop it's less accessible because you have to set it up in the settings/menu instead of it just being a simple click on the grid.

Oh, interesting, that's more like a temporary "stay here for now" button than a navigation setting...
It's not quite what I wanted for boards that are always supposed to navigate the same way, since you'd have to unlock it to get back out of that board, and remember to lock it again next time you're in there, I think?
But both could be super useful!
