By accessing or using the hosted LNbits SaaS service (the "Service") operated by LNbits Inc. ("LNbits", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").
If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and LNbits Inc.
LNbits Inc. operates a hosted version of the LNbits software platform that provides tools for interacting with Bitcoin, the Lightning Network, and related payment infrastructure.
The Service may include:
- Lightning wallet management
- merchant and point-of-sale tools
- payment processing interfaces
- APIs and developer tools
- integrations with third-party payment providers
- optional extensions and plugins
LNbits software itself is open-source. The hosted Service is provided as a convenience for users who prefer not to self-host.
LNbits Inc. provides software infrastructure only.
LNbits Inc. does not control the Bitcoin network, the Lightning Network, or any third-party payment systems.
The Service is provided as experimental and beta software.
You acknowledge that:
- the Service may contain bugs or vulnerabilities
- features may change or be removed at any time
- downtime or unexpected behavior may occur
The Service should not be relied upon for mission-critical financial infrastructure.
You should only use the Service with funds you can afford to lose.
Users remain fully responsible for:
- their Bitcoin wallets
- Lightning nodes and channels
- private keys
- API keys and credentials
- backend funding sources
- payment configuration
LNbits Inc. does not have access to private keys and cannot recover lost funds.
Bitcoin and Lightning transactions are irreversible.
Lightning wallets and payment infrastructure connected to the Service may function as internet-connected hot wallets.
Hot wallets carry inherent risks including:
- server compromise
- credential theft
- software vulnerabilities
- infrastructure failures
Users should not store significant funds within wallets connected to the Service.
LNbits Inc. is not responsible for losses resulting from hot wallet exposure.
The Lightning Network is an experimental distributed payment network.
Payments may fail due to:
- routing failures
- liquidity shortages
- node downtime
- channel closures
- network congestion
LNbits Inc. does not guarantee payment routing, settlement, or availability of liquidity.
The Service may integrate with third-party systems including:
- Lightning nodes
- payment processors
- banks
- external APIs
- extensions or plugins
LNbits Inc. does not control and is not responsible for the reliability, security, or operation of third-party services.
LNbits supports a modular extension system.
Extensions may be developed by LNbits Inc., open-source contributors, or third parties.
Extensions may interact with wallets and payment systems.
LNbits Inc. does not audit or guarantee the security or reliability of extensions.
Users install and use extensions at their own risk.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring their use of the Service complies with all laws and regulations applicable in their jurisdiction.
This may include:
- tax obligations
- licensing requirements
- accounting obligations
- AML/KYC requirements
LNbits Inc. does not monitor or enforce regulatory compliance.
While LNbits Inc. takes reasonable measures to maintain the security of the Service, no online system can be guaranteed to be secure.
Users are responsible for protecting:
- login credentials
- API keys
- connected infrastructure
The Service may experience interruptions due to:
- maintenance
- infrastructure failures
- denial-of-service attacks
- software updates
- force majeure events
LNbits Inc. does not guarantee uptime or availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LNbits Inc., its directors, employees, and contributors shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of the Service.
This includes but is not limited to:
- loss of funds
- loss of profits
- loss of business
- loss of data
- indirect or consequential damages
Use of the Service is entirely at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of LNbits Inc. for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed:
the greater of:
- £100, or
- the total fees paid by the user to LNbits Inc. during the previous twelve (12) months.
Users may not use the Service for unlawful or abusive purposes including but not limited to:
- fraud
- money laundering
- sanctions violations
- distribution of malware
- attacks against network infrastructure
LNbits Inc. reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
LNbits Inc. may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if:
- these Terms are violated
- the Service is abused
- security risks are identified
Users may stop using the Service at any time.
LNbits Inc. may update these Terms periodically.
Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
LNbits software is primarily licensed under open-source licenses.
Use of the hosted Service operated by LNbits Inc. is separate from the licensing of the open-source codebase.
Users are free to self-host LNbits subject to the applicable licenses.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration, rather than in court, except where prohibited by applicable law.
The arbitration shall be conducted in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) or a similar arbitration body agreed upon by the parties.
The arbitration shall take place in Delaware, United States, unless otherwise agreed by the parties.
The arbitrator’s decision shall be final and binding.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive or equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction where necessary to protect intellectual property rights or confidential information.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.
You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit, class-wide arbitration, or representative proceeding against LNbits Inc.
If this class action waiver is found to be unenforceable, then the entirety of the arbitration provision shall be considered void to the extent required by applicable law.
