WSL2 randomly seems to have erased all data

Unknown, lsb_release does not exist, and /etc/os-release does not state the Ubuntu version.

Repro Steps

I simply had shutdown WSL earlier via wsl.exe --shutdown, and when I launched it back up just now via wsl.exe (or wsl.exe -d Ubuntu) all data has seemingly been wiped

Expected Behavior

I don't lose data randomly while WSL is shutdown

Actual Behavior

WSL seems to have lost all data and reset to a blank state

Download and execute collect-wsl-logs.ps1 in an administrative powershell prompt:

Invoke-WebRequest -UseBasicParsing "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/microsoft/WSL/master/diagnostics/collect-wsl-logs.ps1" -OutFile collect-wsl-logs.ps1
Set-ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Scope Process -Force
.\collect-wsl-logs.ps1

The script will output the path of the log file once done.

If this is a networking issue, please use .\collect-wsl-logs.ps1 -LogProfile networking instead, following the instructions in Collect WSL logs for networking issues

Once completed please upload the output files to this GitHub issue.

I literally cannot collect logs because how would I reproduce a random issue???

@Firepup6500: What do you mean by "all data has seemingly been wiped" ? Have your distributions been removed, or files within the distribution ?

Can you also collect /logs so we can see which states your distribution are in ?

It seemed (at that time) like all files within distributions were gone, however I ended up updating WSL and that somehow restored it, seemed like I was maybe being thrown into the debug shell?
