If pgdog inherits all of pgcat’s advantages, I’d definitely be interested in taking a closer look at it as an alternative to pgbouncer. However, since Pigsty is a Linux distribution, we only consume software via RPM/DEB packages. I’ve built many RPM and DEB packages—including several Rust-based PostgreSQL extensions—but I’ve never packaged a pure Rust application before.

I could begin with looking into this project and try to build some minimal available packages

+1. PgBouncer is single-threaded and CPU could become a bottleneck, while PgDog could in theory utilize multiple CPU cores. See also pgbouncer/pgbouncer#1021.
