How to generate credentials automatically

I understand from other discussions that an API was in the plans in 2021 but seeing as it's 2026 and it didn't happen, I'm willing to simply inject data directly into the database to allow our automations to work.

Our most needed automation right now is credential generation and rotation. I understand I need to insert data into the credentials table and link it to the servers table. Is there anything I should know about code only restrictions or assumptions like the size of format of the keys or some data in other tables?

I'm not aware of any limitations, there are some printers which can't handle long passwords so had to shorten the length manually in the database and that worked out fine.
