The AMOCcommunity GitHub organization is a community-driven collection of open-source tools, datasets, and resources for studying the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). We provide a collaborative space for AMOC researchers to share analysis packages, standardized data formats, and best practices. The organization addresses the expectations of the CLIVAR AMOC Task Team towards making AMOC observational data easier to access.
We particularly welcome resources designed for ongoing community use—such as tools for calculating the AMOC in models or from observations, datasets aggregating transport estimates across monitoring programs, or other analysis packages that envision ongoing development and broader use. We encourage suggestions for new resources—whether you work with mooring arrays, autonomous platforms, hydrographic sections, or modelling studies—raise an issue, start a discussion or propose a new repository.

AMOCatlas - Python package providing access to AMOC observational array data in standardized formats, aggregating transport estimates (volume, heat, and freshwater) across monitoring programs.

metric - Meridional ovErTurning ciRculation diagnostIC (METRIC) is a Python package for calculating observational-equivalent AMOC diagnostics in ocean general circulation models. METRIC enables users to estimate overturning, heat, and freshwater transports at the RAPID (26.5°N), MOVE (16°N), and SAMBA (34.5°S) arrays, and includes automated validation features for comparing model output to observations.
